Symplefsi (+plefsi) is a non-profit organization founded in 2014, with the aim of supporting and improving the living conditions of the inhabitants of the Greek remote islands.

Symplefsi, on a purely voluntary basis, organizes activities throughout the year, aiming to provide the maximum possible contribution to the remote islands.

  1. True to our purpose of offering to the inhabitants of the isolated islands, we provide, first of all, free medical examinations and health services.
  2. Second, we create infrastructure projects in local communities. In this context, Symplefsi has decided that 100% of the allocated funds will be given exclusively to these projects.
  3. Third, we support education and culture, through organizing informational talks and creative activities, and covering needs in educational infrastructure.

In this way, Symplefsi contributes substantially to the equal access of the inhabitants of the island areas to basic goods, such as health, education, culture and infrastructure, reducing the need for them to move to larger islands.

The more than 100 volunteers of Symplefsi reach their destinations via the members’ privately-owned rib-boats and have already traveled over 4,380 nautical miles in nine Aegean Crossings “Diaplous”, nine Autumn Missions and one special mission in cooperation with EODY, in 35 islands: Agathonissi, Agios Eftstratios, Amorgos, Anafi, Antikythera, Arkoi, Astypalaia, Gavdos, Donoussa, Ereikoussa, Iraklia, Therasia, Thymaina, Ikaria, Kassos, Kastellorizo, Kimolos, Kinaros, Levitha, Lipsi, Manthraki, Marathi, Milos, Nisyros, Othonoi, Patmos, Samothrace, Sikinos, Schinoussa, Telendos, Tilos, Farmakonisi, Folegandros, Fournoi, Pserimos.
